First Dance

First Dance
by John Trent

A distant melody lifts life’s ethereal shroud
Sweet echoes remind of a young boy’s bliss
A mother and child dance alone with no sound
Living each moment while she twirls him around

They laugh and smile as the music plays
Her eyes gaze downward with unwavering love
He giggles in splendor, her smile so sublime
The rhythm of their hearts forever in time

The angel and sprite captured heaven on earth
They dance with joy to a buttercup’s song
With hands embraced my memory then fades
So precious and treasured that moment remains
