Tides

Photograph by J. Trent

Tides
By John Trent

Broken she lay on a bed of sand
As time removes her brownish-gray cloak
Upon the shimmer of the morning sun
A trail of tears exposed by the retreating tide

Bone-gray pedals so delicately frail
Her deeply etched wrinkles of intricate design
Life's essence past with magnificence exposed
So beautifully unique, she lay in repose

Eternally longing each returning tide
Passing her time on this lonely shore
Endless her moments in timeless solitude
She drifts the current of each days sun
